Caleb James Delisle is the lead dev for PKT and shared some big updates for the upcoming PKT Wallet technology, including the PKT Lightning Daemon (PLD) that he expects to become the primary PKT wallet code base upon release.
Caleb is currently working hard on refining the framework for PLD, which will also interface with mesh networking technology cjdns. PLD had 500,000 lines of code and he shared that he was able to get rid of 100,000 lines of code so far without any loss of functionality. This recent accomplishment is helping the wallet become more efficient by 20%!
Other wallets employ a “lasagna code” where everything that you do, like requesting your wallet balance, goes through multiple layers of files to reach its destination. Cjdns works more like a “ravioli code” where the modules are wrapped up in one place. So when you request your balance, that request directly reaches its destination in a single layer.
Why is this single-layer pasta so important? Shortening code helps improves the performance of the wallet, leaves less room for bugs, enables new features in a shorter timeframe, and makes it easier to refactor.
Josh Berger shared that the PKT Pal team is focusing on elevating their products to the next level.
Coming soon, PKT Pal will be introducing the PKT Mini to the ecosystem. This product is a smaller form factor about the size of a Roku or Apple TV. The major feature is going to be WiFi sharing, which will allow people to earn for sharing their internet WiFi, and help people get on to the internet for free, and only pay for internet speed.
The PKT Mini’s WiFi Sharing will be the first utilization of the PKT Network for more than just mining. This technology is fundamental to the PKT project and creates real-world utility for PKT. The first step will be getting online for free, but the next steps will feature paying for the internet speeds you need. The belief behind this system is that the internet should be accessible to all and people should only have to pay for how fast they want their internet connection to be.
Packaging design and renderings for the PKT Mini are in the works, and a presale is to be expected in the near future. You can expect a new sleek minimalist design that will look good in your home or office while you help expand the PKT and become a local ISP.
PKT Pal’s Bill Pay feature will soon be available for an initial group of PKT Pal customers. This feature enables people to pay their utility bills with PKT – PKT’s first real utility. A demo will be released to the public so Pkteers can see the functionality of this new feature.
The PKT Pal team has been scaling up its marketing team, including bringing in a full-time publicist who will be focused solely on marketing PKT and PKT Pal. New article writers and content creators are joining the team to help explain what PKT is building, what Pkteers are fighting for, and what this community is doing to change the world in a positive way. PKT Pal is planning giveaways to create an awesome opportunity for the people to get PKT Cubes and the new PKT Mini by bringing new people into the community. Make sure to join their communities so you don’t miss out!
PKT Pal has been working on a new website and its version 2 user dashboard. PKT Pal is also overseeing an extensive polish of the PKT Cash website. Movement is underway to also bring back the PKT Podcast including a bunch of special guests from both within the PKT community, as well as contributors to mesh networking and crypto communities as well.
Greta Gurgenyan from PKT Pal is working on the brand new Import Seed feature for the PKT Cube. This feature will help PKT Cube owners import their seeds from other PKT wallets into the PKT Cube’s wallet. The transactions will be available on the user’s dashboard and in the transaction history, the PKT explorer. For those with an older PKT mining device, or for miners that have been mining for a long time, this will be highly beneficial.
Import Seed will be available soon!
If you’ve ever wanted to check your balance or even make a PKT transaction with your mobile device, the Anode PKT Mobile Wallet is being created just for that. Adonis Gaitatzis and the Anode team are working on this new mobile PKT wallet for iOS. Soon you’ll be able to send and receive PKT wherever you go!
Adonis talked about a few of the notable highlights, such as the QR code scanner. Pkteers won’t need to type those long error-prone hexadecimal codes and can save wallet addresses into an address book in the app.
The first version of Anode’s mobile wallet has been sent to Apple for review, which is now in the final approval stage. Once approved, the Anode team will make a demo version to showcase prior to the launch and share with the community.
This same mobile wallet design will soon be available on Android, which will update the current Anode VPN app interface. Integrating Anode VPN into the iOS version is also underway, so users will have a mobile PKT Wallet with the updated interface design and VPN functionality for both iOS and Android.
